Diabetes Diet: Controlling Mechanism

Diabetes is an unremitting disease where the food is not absorbed properly in the body and cannot be used as energy. This increases the sugar level in the blood. For a normal person, during digestion, food is broken into smaller elements of sugar, called glucose, which merges into the blood stream and is moved into the cells of the body to create energy. For the people having diabetes, insulin, a hormone generated by the pancreas, is not produced in sufficient quantity. When the body becomes insulin resistant, or does not use insulin properly, it leads to diabetes.  
    Being the major health concern at any age, diabetes is the most feared chronic disease. Nutrition therapy is a natural control and cure of diabetes. The physical activity also helps in improving the diabetes level. If a person changes his eating habits and life style, he can ensure that the sugar level is under control. Regular physical activity and a proper diet plan would make the person feel fresh and healthy and vigorous.  
    Proper consumption of diet rich in fibre content and carbohydrates, and a reduction in fatty foods helps in controlling the blood glucose of a person. Increasing the consumption of vegetables and fruits and wholegrain cereals and breads would help the person in controlling the sugar level. Reducing obesity and controlling weight makes the person have an upper hand over his chronic disease.  
    One should take proper steps to control diabetes before it raises its ugly head and controls us. It is possible to enjoy the most preferred food and still have the upper hand. One does not have to feel deprived just because he is suffering from diabetes. Having a balanced diet would help the person in managing this chronic disorder.  
    The first step towards changing your diet would be to select carbohydrates which have high fiber content and are slow in releasing. Have control over eating sweets and fats. Regular eating habits, without missing meals are the keystone to maintaining a healthy body. It is the small things which make you climb the ladder of success. Eating small portion of meals at regular intervals would help in maintaining proper metabolism of the body. It is important that the nutritional needs of the body are satisfied and your diet should be formulated so that a balanced food intake is maintained.  
    A simple but healthy eating habit should be cultivated so that the sugar level of the body is maintained. The best diet is a combination of food which is high in nutrients, has low fat, and comprises of less calories. Fibrous food helps in proper breakage and digestion of food. The carbohydrates should be kept in control so that it does not upset the stomach.  
    The nutritional therapy for diabetes means eating a range of nutritious food items in judicious quantities. One should eat smaller quantities at regular intervals to ensure proper metabolism of the body. The eating habits should be cultivated in such a way that the diabetes is kept under control and one lives a hale and hearty life!
